Monaco, Aug 11 (Prensa Latina) the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) on Thursday announced it would conduct anti-doping tests on all participants in the Daegu World Championship, set for South Korea from Aug. 27 to Sept. 4.
According to the IAAF, the blood testing program in Daegu will be organized in addition to the regular doping controls carried out at world championship events.
This step will be taken for the first time in the history of track and field, and seeks to optimize the struggle against doping.
Athletes’ biological profiles will be obtained to implement so-called biological passports.
Around 2,000 athletes will participate in Daegu, and will have to be tested beginning Aug 18 at a medical post placed in the athletes’ resort.
