Former President Faces Lawsuit in Colombia

Bogota, Aug 9 (Prensa Latina) Former President Alvaro Uribe (2002-2010) on Tuesday was summoned by the Attorney General’s Office after he was sued for slander and defamation charges.

Uribe will appear in court for a conciliation hearing, after political analyst Leon Valencia sued him for libel.

According to Valencia, he filed the lawsuit due to Uribe’s constant remarks against him, all of them regarded as “offensive and unfounded.”

For now, Valencia said he would attend the hearing, while Uribe has not yet confirmed his attendance.
