Caracas, (Prensa Latina) The leadership of President Hugo Chavez unified the people in its class struggle against the oligarchic elite groups that used to rule the country, Aristobulo Isturiz, leader of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), stated on Thursday.
Chavez made it possible for the masses to be the majority and for their voices to be heard, and to be the real owners of Venezuela’s resources, Isturiz said.
“All of them, in all their diversity, respect and support Chavez,” said Isturiz, stating that Chavez also became a reference for other Latin American countries, such as Ecuador and Brazil.
Isturiz made his remarks when discussing the diversity of presidential candidatures among the opposition, which in his opinion shows a lack of leadership and division in the Democratic Unity Council (MUD).
The leadership of the national opposition is not autonomous, because it receives direct instructions from the U.S. Department of State, and some candidates are not considered as such until they get Washington’s
approval, the PSUV leader said.
