Kabul, Aug 1 (Prensa Latina) Afghan rebels claimed responsibility for an attack in the province of Kapisa that killed 11 French soldiers, according to the Kali Yuga news agency. The report said the action took place in the Tagab district, along with other clashes in Logar, Paktia and Helmand provinces that killed 12 police officers and one rebel.
The latest casualties brought the death toll for the occupation forces in Afghanistan to 342, with 236 of them from the United States.
Afghan government sources said a NATO air raid killed four to eight police in a northern area of the country.
Jamaluddin Badar, governor of the province of Nuristan, said that a “repetition of these attacks would be unforgivable.”
