Norway: Mourning for Double Attack

Oslo, Jul 23 (Prensa Latina) The Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg announced on Saturday that flags shall be flown at half mast in memory of the victims of the double attack on Friday that caused 91 deaths and dozens of wounded.

Stoltenberg said the attacks on Friday in the center of this capital and the island of Utoya, about 25 miles from Oslo, is a threat to the open society that the country represents.

Stoltenberg described as a “national tragedy” the attacks that have so far been attributed to local organizations of the extreme right and Christian fundamentalists.

According to the Norwegian police, the explosion of a car bomb in downtown Oslo on Friday caused the deaths of seven people, while the shooting at a camp on the island of Utoya resulted in 84 deaths.♦
