Lima, Jul 23 (Prensa Latina) The Summit of the Andean Community of Nations (CAN), originally scheduled to start as of Saturday in Lima, has been postponed at a request from Peruvian president-elect Ollanta Humala to be held after his inauguration ceremony on July 28.
Humala asked Bolivian President Evo Morales Jauma, current president of CAN, to postpone the event called by current Peruvian President Alan Garcia.
Official sources from Bolivia told the press the CAN presidential summit would be carried out on July 28.
The program also includes a summit of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR), which will be held on the same day in the afternoon, taking advantage of the presence of all the Heads of State and Government of the region in the ceremony.
The postponement of the CAN Summit also implied the postponement of the preparatory meetings for ministers of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade.
