Uruguayan President to Meet Argentine Counterpart

Montevideo, Jul 20 (Prensa Latina) Uruguayan President Jose Mujica will develop two working meetings with his Argentine counterpart Cristina Fernandez to analyze bilateral topics, as reported by the Uruguayan government without giving details on dates.

The source said President Mujica will state the need to join efforts for the nomination of Argentina and Uruguay as seats of the 2030 World Soccer Cup.

The Uruguayan Presidency website said Tuesday that organizing the 2030 World Soccer Cup is an initiative of both governments in commemoration of the 100 years of the first competition of this kind at the Centenario Stadium in Montevideo.

The South American Soccer Confederation supported this candidature unanimously, and notified its decision to International Soccer Federation (FIFA) president Joseph Blatter.

Regarding the Americas Cup, President Mujica is following the steps of the Uruguayan national team with great interest and he informed the Uruguayan Communication Ministry of the impossibility of his attending the matches, because of his work schedule.
