Rome: Int’l Conference on AIDS Ends

Rome: Jul 20 (Prensa Latina) The 6th IAS Conference on HIV/AIDS Treatment, Pathogenesis and Prevention ended Wednesday in Rome after four days of debating strategies for fighting and preventing this disease.

According to participants, the expectations are promising, but doubts and concerns remain regarding the findings of current studies and the search for a vaccine.

The findings were very positive for studies on prophylactic treatments to prevent HIV infection among heterosexual couples and the early introduction of anti-retroviral therapy for new patients.

More than 5,000 delegates, including researchers, scientists and physicians, participated in this important meeting.
