Lima, Jul 20 (Prensa Latina) Lima”s 16th annual International Book Fair opened Wednesday in Parque de Los Proceres with 150 exhibitors from 23 countries.
The fair will feature poets, novelists, storytellers and journalists from all over the world from July 20 to Aug 2, 2011, with 280 stands.
At least 150,000 books will be sold and over 450 activities like books launching, exhibitions, seminars, workshops, lectures, concerts, poetry readings and contests for children will take place at this year’s fair, dedicated to the centenary of Peruvian poet Jose Maria Arguedas.
Special guests will include Argentine President Cristina Fernandez and Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa, who will present his book “De Banana Republic a la No República.”
Writers who will participate include Chileans Arturo Corcuera, Omar Lara and Raul Zurita; Colombian Mario Jursich, and Argentine cartoonist Sergio Langer, among others.
Debates between young writers and the audience will take place under the slogan “Words Count”.
