German Chancellor Asks Italy to Establish Budgetary Strategy

Berlin, (Prensa Latina) German Federal Chancellor, Angela Merkel, called on the Italian government to carry out budget cuts needed to promote savings and fiscal consolidation.

The approval of this budget, said the head of government, is a signal that Italy itself should send, a country that in recent days has suffered market pressure.

However, Merkel said she has great confidence in the peninsular government and that the euro remains stable despite the fact that some eurozone countries, such as Greece and Portugal, have serious debt problems.

She also indicated that members of the European Union will do everything necessary to defend the stability of their currency, a fact that is evident in the permanent mechanism to help those European states with the biggest economic problems.
