Quito, Jul 13 (Prensa Latina) Brazilian Foreign Minister, Antonio de Aguiar Patriota, will arrive in Quito on Friday, 15, in response to an invitation from Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Ricardo Patiño.
Patriota will stay at Carondelet Palace (government headquarters), where he will give a personal message to President Rafael Correa, from his Brazilian counterpart, Dilma Roussef, said an official note.
Previously, the two Foreign Ministers will meet at the Foreign Ministry, starting at 11:00 local time, where they will sign a Memorandum of Bilateral Consultations Ecuador – Brazil.
They will also review the main points of the international agenda, as well as the promotion of bilateral trade and investment, and they will check progress in the field of cooperation.
Special emphasis will be placed on the adoption of the Japan-Brazil standard of digital television and Multimodal Manta-Manaos axis, as the entrance and exit of regional trade with the Asian Pacific Basin.
In the area of multilateral relations and integration, various aspects of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (ECLAC) will be discussed.
They will also address issues of the Southern Common Market (Mercosur), the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization(ACTO), UN reform and environmental issues.
In the afternoon, the Foreign Ministry will host a luncheon in honor of Antonio Aguiar Patriota and his delegatiopn, who at 15:30 local time will meet with the Secretary General of UNASUR, Maria Emma Mejia.
