Paris, Jul 4 (Prensa Latina) Costa Rican cyclist Andrey Amador said this Monday that he intends to finish the current Tour de France despite an injury he suffered during the first stage.
He could barely walk before the team time trial. According to him he could not leave the Tour on its first day. He also said that he wants to continue for all the people who follow him.
Amador suffered a hard fall during the first stage.
Amador, who rides for the Movistar Spanish team, is the first Costa Rican in this Tour. He states that his ankle is in pain but refuses to leave the competition to avoid disappointing his fans.
However, Amador had not lost hope of reaching the Champs Elysees and sees as positive that he finished first among his teammates in the time trial.
“I think my ankle can improve every day”, said the young cyclist, who is the son of a Costa Rican and a Russian engineer.
