Brazilian President Aims Fire at Corruption

Brasilia, Jul 4 (Prensa Latina) Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff dismissed Ministry of Transportation officials suspected of corruption, the local media reported.

According to O Globo, the president decided to make take strong measures, angry about reports that funds had been diverted from important projects, such as the North-South rail line.

Observers indicated that the straw that broke the camel’s back was the publication of a report in Veja newspaper revealing details about an alleged network of corruption in public tenders, organized by the Republican Party.

According to the latest ediction of Veja, this illegal nework demands bribes to win bids for public works.

The article implicated Minister of Transport Alfredo Nascimento and Senator Blairo Maggi, the largest soy farmer in Brazil.
