Luque, Paraguay, Jun 29 (Prensa Latina) Trade among the four member countries of the Southern Common Market (Mercosur) grew in the last 11 years, according to the Argentine Minister of Economy Amado Boudou.
That impact positively influenced the generation of jobs in all Mercosur member countries and associated nations, Boudou said in remarks to reporters.
Amado Boudou, who attended the regular meeting of Mercosur Council on Tuesday, said the growth in the last decade allowed the members of the sub-regional mechanism to steer clear of the negative impact of the global economic crisis.
Boudou said that the joint work on the operation of the block served to overcome a very difficult stage of the international economy, which will remain so, he guaranteed.
Until last April, the foreign trade of Paraguay with Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay grew 210 million USD over the previous year, for a total of 2.15 billion USD, according to official figures.
The main items of export include vegetable oils, meat, clothing, furs and leathers, as well as cereals, flours and food preparations, according to the Central Bank.
