Tripoli, Jun 28 (Prensa Latina) Libya, suffering more terrible air raids on Tuesday, affirmed that an arrest warrant for leader Muammar Gaddafi is part of the double standard applied by the West in facilitating NATO aggression against this country.
Authorities and supporters of the Libyan government discredited on Tuesday the International Criminal Court (ICC), using the same tone as on Monday, when that court issued arrest warrants for Muammar Gaddafi, his son Saif al-Islam and the country’s spy chief, Abdullah al-Senussi.
ICC Chief Prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo said Gaddafi, 69, his son, 39, and Al-Senussi, 62, allegedly committed atrocities during the uprising that began on February 17, carrying out “a policy of systematic and widespread attacks against civilians.”
News reports highlighted the support for Gaddafi expressed by supporters who turned out in squares around the country after Libyan Justice Minister Mohammed Al-Qamoodi described the ICC as “a tool used by the West to try Third World leaders.”
