Vietnam Heads Gingerly for Nuclear Energy

Hanoi, Jun 22 (Prensa Latina) The need to ensure safety at all costs in the nuclear power plants built in Vietnam led to the creation of a special committee for training in the sector.

The development of human resources represents the best guarantee for nuclear safety, as part of sustainable economic growth in this nation.

The committee will study and monitor mechanisms for training skilled workers, including 2,400 engineers and 350 graduated in nuclear energy-related specialties.

A visit by the Russian State Group of Nuclear Energy (Rosatom) earlier this year contributed to restore Vietnamese confidence in the project, although the Fukushima nuclear disaster was still fresh.

These experts defended the safety of the plant that is being built in the central province of Ninh Thuan, the epicenter of atomic energy development in Vietnam.

The director of Rosatom, Sergei Alexandrovich Boyarkin, defended the characteristics of modern Russian reactors and highlighted their experience in the construction of nuclear facilities with 66 units in 12 countries.

Boyarkin explained the measures to prevent earthquakes and tsunamis, and guaranteed the safety of the technology for the Ninh Thuan 1 nuclear plant.
