ALBA to Grant Scholarships in Nicaragua

Managua, Jun 22 (Prensa Latina) About 3,000 young Nicaraguans will be granted scholarships to pursue university studies with solidarity funds of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Peoples of Our Americas (ALBA).

The President of the National Council of Universities, Telemachus Talavera, announced Tuesday that regulations to be met by applicants are been completed to begin the program next July with a total cost of about 12 million USD from ALBA.

Scholarship holders may choose careers related to medical sciences, agricultural production and education, specialties related to the development prospects of the country, said Talavera, also the rector of the National Agrarian University and adviser to President Daniel Ortega on educational topics.

The selected students will be scholarship holders for five years in six public universities, two of them located in the Autonomous Regions of the Nicaraguan Caribbean.
