Moscow, Jun 21(Prensa Latina) Ukraine and China signed Monday contracts worth 3.5 billion USD and a joint declaration on the principles of their strategic relations.
Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich and his Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao, signed the declaration after holding private meetings.
Yanukovich said that commercial agreements cover mainly the area of infrastructure construction, energy and high technology.
Hu said the joint declaration rises to a strategic level the ties between the two states, which means the continuation and expansion of bilateral cooperation.
The Chinese President said his country will increase imports of Ukrainian competitive goods.
In addition, Chinese companies will invest and establish joint ventures in Ukrainia, he said.
China also invited 500 children from areas affected by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster to receive medical treatment in the summer of 2012.
The Chinese President arrived on Saturday in the southern autonomous region of Crimea, where he was received by the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Konstantin Grischenko
