Mexico, Jun 21 (Prensa Latina) Mexicoâ�Ös National Governors Conference (Conago) agreed on Monday to continue surprise police operations in specific zones of the country in order to stop the growing spiral of violence.
According to official sources, a national police operation, carried out since last Monday until Sunday, will become a permanent action.
The head of Government of the Federal District and current Conago president, Marcelo Ebrard, and the governor of Chihuahua and head of the Security Commission of that organization, Cesar Duarte, announced the struggle against more serious and frequent crime will continue.
Those crimes include homicides, extortions, car and house robberies, kidnappings, and human traficcking.
Mexico Federal District Attorney General Miguel Angel Mancera said 3,918 people were detained in the first week of the police operation.
Mancera also added that 1,500 stolen cars were recovered, 892 arrest warrants were accomplished, 37 organized crime gangs were dismantled and 170 firearms were seized.
