Haiti: US Intromission Questioned

Port-au-Prince, (Prensa Latina) The intromission of the US Ambassador in Haiti, Kenneth Merten, in the Haitian domestic affairs has been questioned by the digital newspaper Haiti Progress.

The paper’s criticism is a reaction to demands by the US Ambassador to speed up the ratification of assigned Prime Minister Philippe Gérard Rouzier, one of the richest men in Haiti.

Haiti Progress regards the US ambassador as “arrogant” and considered he spoke as “someone who thinks Haiti is definitely a conquered country.”

Two special commissions of Haiti’s Lower House and the Senate are analyzing RouzierÂs records since June 9. His ratification will rely on the results of this assessment.

Legislators said this first step is basically technical, and that everything will go on according to the Constitution of 1987.
