China President Visits Kazakhstan

Beijing, Jun 12 (Prensa Latina) China”s President Hu Jintao, arrived Sunday in Astana, capital of Kazakhstan for an official visit and then will participate in a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

This is the start of a tour of Hu, which will include a visit to Russia 15-18 and then to Ukraine, until June 20, according to officials releases.

Hu and his counterpart in Kazakhstan will hold talks to strengthen bilateral ties, including trade that reached a turnover of 20.4 billion USD last year.

The meeting of the SCO, to be held on Wednesday, coincides with the tenth anniversary of the organization, which also includes Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Russia and Uzbekistan, while India, Pakistan, Iran and Mongolia are observers.

Hu will visit the two other countries invited by their respective presidents, Dmitry Medvedev and Viktor Yanukovich. During his visit to Russia, the program includes the participation of Hu in the 15th International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg.
