Damascus, Jun 11 (PL) Syria considered on Saturday that it accomplished its mission of restoring order in Jisr Al-Shughour City, and warned the UN against possible criticism to its clash with the armed opposition, to which it accused of various deaths.
The state SANA news agency reported that Army units arrested a great number of members of armed terrorist groups, and killed and injured some of them; despite they resulted to place traps using dynamite stolen from the Wadi Abyad lake area.
Syria state television and SANA quoted military sources as saying that the Friday operation allowed them to deploy troops at the entries of that city of the northwestern Idleb province in order to restore the security and calm claimed by the population.
Jisr Al-Shughour residents expressed to the television their joy for the military presence which quashed the opposition attempts to besiege the granaries of the area, set fire to crops and vehicles, and steal 500 bags of chemical fertilizers to make explosives.
Meanwhile, Foreign Affairs Minister Walid Al-Moallem said in a letter released in this capital that it is important that the UN Security Council refrains from interfering in the internal affairs of Syria, which is a UN founder. In the letter, Syria warned the UN that a European draft resolution condemning this nation for the actions carried out against the anti government forces would only encourage extremists and terrorists.Ω
