Venezuela: Refinery Fire under Investigation

Caracas, Jun 5 (Prensa Latina) Experts with the Venezuelan state oil company PDVSA began investigating Sunday to determine the cause of a Saturday night fire at the Amuay refinery, part of the biggest refinery in the world.

According to a PDVSA press release, an expert committee was activated to investigate the blaze, which was brought under control by firefighters with no deaths or injuries.

The fire took place in an area for waste, and did not affect operations, PDVSA officials said. It coincided with heavy thunderstorms in the Paraguana Peninsula.
