Berlin, (Prensa Latina) The German socialist party Die Linke (The Left) reiterated its request for the withdrawal of German troops in Afghanistan after a rebel attack that killed six soldiers.
On Saturday, a bomb exploded in the presidential palace in Taloqan during a meeting of German military and Afghan officials.
The attack killed the police chief of northern Afghanistan, General Mohammad Daud Daud, a regional police chief, two Afghan officials, along with a counselor and the bodyguard of the German regional commander, General Markus Kneip, who was wounded in the leg.
Gregor Gysi, chairman of the Socialist group in Parliament, lamented the deaths and the civilian victims of a recent NATO air strike, which shows that the situation in Afghanistan has not improved at all.
That is why the government should withdraw the German troops as soon as possible, he said.
