The team, made up of three catchers, seven infielders, four outfielders and eight pitchers, will be managed by Roger Machado, from the Ciego de Ávila team, runner-up in the last national championship.
Cuba will be represented in Rotterdam by an array mostly mixing future prospects with some other highly experienced players such as receiver Osvaldo Arias from Cienfuegos.
The pitching staff is spearheaded by Yadier Pedroso, from Habana, the 2008-09 Cuban champion team, and a member of the nine that took part in the first edition of the 2006 World Classic.
Apart from the burly hurler of the “Cowboys” from former Habana province, other outstanding players are Ismel Jiménez, from Sancti Spiritus, (who led wins at the 50th National Series), reliever Duniel Ibarra -Cienfuegos- (new pace-setter in saves) and short stop Erisbel Arruebarruena, the most valuable jewel, for many, of the prolific Cuban quarry.
Thus, Cuba will enhance the Inter-port Tournament in Rotterdam, which will also be entertained by combines from Germany, China Taipei, Curacao, and the Netherlands.
