Obama´s Speech: Israeli Reject, Palestinians Debate

Tel Aviv, May 20 (Prensa Latina) The Israeli Government rejected the proposal of U.S. President, Barack Obama, of accepting the 1967 lines, while his Palestinian counterpart called on “debating” the speech, in spite of the fact that many Arabs considered it as disappointing.

Before traveling to Washington, where he will be received by Obama, Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, described as “indefensible” the borders that existed prior to the Middle East war in June 1967.

Tel Aviv authorities, backed by the public and unconditional support of Washington, claim that nearly 300,000 Israeli live in settlements in the West Bank that are off the mentioned borders and are considered as “illegal” by the UN.

President of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA), Mahmoud Abbas, convened an emergency meeting to examine the statement of president Barack Obama.
