Tegucigalpa, May 18 (Prensa Latina) The deputy coordinator of the National Front for Popular Resistance (FNRP), Juan Barahona, demanded Wednesday that the Attorney General´s Office investigate a reported conspiracy to murder former president Manuel Zelaya.
Barahona said the Honduran government is responsible for Zelaya´s security when he returns to the country, between May 27 and 29.
An accusation of this nature should not be treated as a circus, and it is necessary to investigate the possible masterminds and perpetrators, he said.
The plot against the former president was recently reported by Xiomara Castro de Zelaya to the Attorney General´s Office after she was warned.
Zelaya is expected to arrive at the Toncontin International Airport in Tegucigalpa, to be welcomed by thousands of Honduras organized by the FNRP.
Zelaya has been living in the Dominican Republic for over a year after being kidnapped by soldiers and sent to Costa Rica in June 2009.
