Caracas, 11 May. AVN .- The General Police Council approved this Wednesday the resolution of National Public Registry of Police Officers and Personal Records aimed at creating a single data base on the performance of all the police officers of municipal, state and national police departments, informed the Secretary of the General Police Council Soraya El Ackar.
Registry”s purpose is to prevent that policemen that have been sanctioned or suspended from their duties are hired by a different department because they are unaware of said person”s record.
The creation of a single data base for all the police officers in the country was established after the creation of the Bolivarian National Police.
El Achkar stated that the approval of this resolution “is a good news for all the police organs.”
She explained that the approval of the registry will allow better control on police officers performance and compile their entire record.
Interior and Justice Ministry in charge of Public Registry
El Achkar informed that the Interior and Justice Ministry will be the organ in charge of controlling the National Public Registry and each police department in the country must bring the record of their staff to the registry.
The record in the registry will be composed of a confidential part that only the Interior and Justice Ministry and personnel departments will have access to, and a public portion to which the entire community will have access.
Regarding the creation of the registry, El Achkar said that “there is still along way to go. We are planning to digitalize it all, so neither the Ministry nor police departments will be full of papers and we can move toward the electronic Government to prevent the use of so many paper which harms nature.”
