Caracas, 07 May. AVN .- The mass attendance during the first day of the national housing deficit census shows the confidence people have in the Grand Venezuelan Housing Mission, said Trade Minister Edmee Betancourt.
“The mass participation shows people”s acceptance. They believe in this project headed by our president Hugo Chavez Frias,” said the Minister this Saturday from one of the centers enabled to conduct the census.
Betancourt urged the population to be patient and she reminded that the census will be active for a month. “The census just begins today. So, I call the collectivity to be patient.”
The goal of this first step is that authorities may have a data base over the real quantity of houses needed nationwide.
People who live in makeshift shelters created by the National Government after torrential rainfall late in 2010 do not need to attend to these journeys, since their information have already been registered.
The national census began this Saturday May 07 in Caracas Capital District and states Miranda, Vargas, Falcon and Zulia. These are the most seriously affected areas after the rainfall, which resulted in almost 130,000 homeless people.
Through the Grand Venezuelan Housing Mission, the Government expects to build two million homes between 2011 and 2017. For this first phase, it is expected an investment of 60 billion bolivares.
