Dominican Republic Makes Ministerial Changes

Santo Domingo, Mar 2 (Prensa Latina) President Leonel Fernandez named new ministers of Education, Interior and Police, as well as directors of Civil Aviation and the National Institute of Public Administration.

For Education he named Josefina Pimentel, former Director of Technical and Vocational Training Institute (Infotep).

As interior and police minister he named José Ramón Fadul, who served as Minister of Industry and Commerce, replacing Franklin Almeyda Rancier, now without duties.

Marcelino Herrera Rodriguez leads now the Civil Aviation Institute, instead of Jose Tomas Perez, who could assume leadership roles in the Dominican Liberation Party.

Also, Oquendo Medina was appointed director of the National Institute of Public Administration, replacing Roberto Obando Prestol.

Other changes were those of the Finance Minister Vicente Bengoa and the Reserve Bank’s president, Daniel Toribio, who changed roles in those positions.

The president left vacant by now the positions of Minister of Industry and Trade and of Infotep.
