Venezuelan Socialists Support Gold Repatriation

Caracas, Aug 21 (Prensa Latina) The ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) begins in this capital on Sunday a process of mobilizations to support the President Hugo Chavez�s decision to repatriate gold reserves held in foreign banks.

According to PSUV vice president Aristobulo Isturiz, the mobilizations planned nationwide for the coming days begin with an assembly which will have among participants the minister of Finance and Planning, Jorge Giordani, and the president of the Central Bank, Nelson Merentes.

Chavez Reiterates Opposition”s Inability to Govern Venezuela

Caracas, Aug 20 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez insisted on Saturday that the opposition is “absolutely” unfit to govern this country again.

Through his column Notas de Retaguardia published in the local newspaper El Correo del Orinoco, Chavez stressed the need for the people and government to be deployed throughout the country to address the stance of the opponents to the developing social transformations.

Caracas, Aug 18 (Prensa Latina) President Hugo Chavez reaffirmed Thursday that Venezuela will use its international reserves according to the country’s interests, without subordinating itself to foreign powers or institutions. In a second article for his column “Notes from the Rear Guard” in the Orinoco Mail newspaper, Chavez decried what he called a campaign to create confusion and destabilization by using the issue of reserves.

Venezuela maintains low poverty, unemployment rates despite capitalism’s crisis

AVN .- The Government of Venezuela, through social investment and implementing policies attached to people”s wellbeing, has achieved to maintain low poverty and unemployment rates despite capitalism”s crisis, informed this Tuesday the vice-president for the Economic Productive Area, Ricardo Menendez.

He explained that since 2008, when the crisis unleashed, and countries such as Greece, the United States, Italy, Great Britain and Spain, among other, entered into an economic recession, Venezuela has maintained a consistent social policy to protect population in social terms.

GIS XXI: 58% of Venezuelans give positive mark to president Chavez’s Administration

Caracas, 09 Ago. AVN .- Jesse Chacon, director of the pollster company GIS XXI, said on Monday that 58% of Venezuelans consider the Administration of president Hugo Chavez as positive.

Hugo Chavez Warns of Opposition Violence

Caracas,  (Prensa Latina) Opposition groups are preparing to carry out violent, anti-democratic actions leading up to the 2012 elections, President Hugo Chavez said Friday. The so-called Democratic Unity Council is treacherous, Chavez said in a telephone interview with the Venezolana de Television news channel, calling on the Venezuelan people and the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) to mobilize for victory.

Colombian President Highlights Importance of UNASUR Meeting

TeleSUR Expands Broadcasts in North America

Caracas,  (Prensa Latina) The Pan-Latin American television channel TeleSUR is now on the U.S. platform WorldTV, expanding its broadcasts in North America, where more than 116 million people will be able to enjoy its informational programs.

The TeleSUR network, a joint venture of several Latin American countries, uses dial 60 of WorldTV, which operates with the Galaxy 19 satellite.
